A protected document binds to certain computer parameters (binding to computer)

Advantages

• You can use all kinds of distribution channels – any optical media, Internet, etc.
• You can monitor the protected document sales and distribution though personal office, in real time.
• You can change the licensing policy of the protected document on-the-fly.

Limitations

• An end user has to activate the document (to enter a Serial Number before viewing the document).
• An end user requires Internet connection to activate a protected document (only once when opening the document for the first time).

The process of document protection with binding to computer

Serial Number parameters and restrictions that can be imposed by protecting files:

1. 1. Maximum number of activations (5 by default).
2. 2. Serial Number start date and expiration date.
3. 3. Regions where a file can be activated.
4. 4. Enable / disable file printing[*].

How an end user opens a protected document:

To view the protected files, an end user requires a Serial Number, which he/she obtains from the file rightholder. Serial Numbers are generated in the "Serial Number generation" section. Special program is required to view the protected pdf files. The program runs automatically when opening a document[**];.

[**] If the viewer does not run automatically for some reason, the user can run by pressing «…» in the folder with the protected document.
